This is awful news for nap lovers ... New research shows that napping is bad for us. Well, sort of.

All of us in Morning Radio feel sleep deprived, and probably try to take a nap, I know I do, just revive ourselves. Ahhh, that wonderful snooze, that, as it turns out, if too long, is bad for our health.

Cosmo Magazine published an article about Scientists from the American College of Cardiology who studied the napping habits of 300,000 people from around the world and found that those who took frequent naps for longer than 40 minutes had a greater risk of high cholesterol, high blood pressure and carrying excess belly fat. But wait, I feel so rested.

And, they say, taking naps for an hour or more increased the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 50%.

But don’t despair, nap fans. These health issues only apply to long naps. Napping for less than 40 minutes showed no increase in health risks and napping for 30 minutes or less was found to show a decrease in those health risks.

So, if I can do it, I have to try for a power nap. Bye bye two hours.
