Kalamazoo native and New York Yankee legend Derek Jeter, along with columnist and author George Will, are the keynote speakers for the Economic Club of Grand Rapids’ 28th annual dinner tonight at DeVos Place. Jeter, who retired from the Yankees last year and will one day certainly be voted into Baseball’s Hall of Fame, will take the center stage with Pulitzer-Prize winning Will in a special question and answer session that will focus on Jeter’s philanthropy, baseball career and growing up in Kalamazoo.

Jeter and Will join an impressive list of speakers at the Economic Club’s annual dinner, including last year’s speaker Sir Richard Branson. Other recent speakers include former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and four former Secretary of State _ Hillary Rodham Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice.

In addition, the Economic Club will honor Blake Krueger, Chairman of the Board, CEO and President of Wolverine World Wide Inc., as its Business Person of the Year and Jim & Donna Brooks, with the Slykhouse Lifetime Achievement Award.
