Davey the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about him on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Meet Davey, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Kim, from the Humane Society, brought Davey into the studios.

Davey is 8-month old, Staffordshire Terrier. Davey was transferred to the Humane Society of West Michigan from Mississippi. He seems to do well with other dogs - unsure how he does with cats. Davey loves to play - especially fetch. He knows some basic commands  already, and is eager to learn.

According to the American Kennel Club, the Staffordshire Terrier is a confident, good-natured and smart dog. They enjoy daily exercise and is adaptable to almost anything you want to do to provide this. Sounds like a good pet to me.

It's a busy week for the Humane Society. Tonight, Wednesday, February 15, is a 616 Lofts Adoption Event at Barking Boutique (820 Monroe Ave) adoptable animals from 6-8pm. Again, it's tonight!

This weekend is PetSmart Adoption Weekend - on 28th St in Kentwood. Adoptable animals will be there Friday 4-6 and Saturday & Sunday 11am-1pm.

Kim also reminded us that Every Kiss Begins with K-9 Adoption Special is still on - every dog 5 month and older is just $50 to adopt now through Feb. 19th.

In addition, they have a Some Bunny to Love Adoption Special - every rabbit is fee waived the entire month of February.

Kim said they will be hosting a Foster Open House on March 13th from 6-7:30. This is for anyone interested why they send animals into foster, what's involved, the time commitment, and any other questions you may have about becoming a foster for an animal in need. Please pre-register by emailing Julie at jtownsend@hswestmi.org or call 616-453-8900 extension 210.

You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
