A chain of family entertainment centers is planning to open a location on 28th Street.

Last week, the city of Kentwood approved a special land use application from Dave & Buster’s for a liquor license at the former Barnes & Noble, at 3660 28th St. SE.

The chain’s plan involves both demolition and renovation work on the building, creating about 26,500 square feet of space, Terry Schweitzer, community development director, city of Kentwood, told the Grand Rapids Business Journal.

Dave & Buster’s was founded in 1982, and owns and operates 69 centers in the U.S. and Canada.

These family entertainment centers feature a restaurant, sports bar, arcade, play area (with bowling, billiards and shuffleboard) and a winner’s circle, where customers can redeem tickets they earn playing games.
