No, we're serious.  Clay Aiken is considering a run for Congress. Yes, the same Clay Aiken who was runner-up on American Idol's third season is thinking about running for Congress to represent North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.

The story on CBS News says:

Aiken, a 35-year-old native of Raleigh, N.C., has already taken some very preliminary steps toward a run.  One source said Aiken had talked with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is tasked with recruiting and boosting promising Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives.

A second source told ... that Aiken met with pollsters at Hart Research Associates last month in Washington, D.C., to pore over survey data.

After finishing with the "American Idols Live" tour in 2003, he had some minor chart hits followed by a successful stage career.  He also founded the "National Inclusion Project" to help disabled children.

So...Clay Aiken in Congress.  What do you think?  I mean, think about the clowns currently running our country.  The idea of Clay Aiken suddenly doesn't seem so strange, does it?  I mean, there's NO WAY he could do any worse than our current elected officials.
