A pair of West Michigan moms and their children have begun a unique new tradition to bring some Christmas joy to the residents in their small Allegan County community. Niki Konetzka and her friend Denise came up with an idea this year to get on their horses and go to each house in downtown Dorr to sing Christmas carols on horseback.

The two single moms say 2018 has been a difficult year for them and this was a way to have a new celebration for the holiday season and try to end the year on a good note. They also say several residents in the Dorr community have helped their families during the tough times, so this was a way to pay it forward and show their appreciation. They will also make it a new annual tradition at Christmas time every year going forward. Just to cover their bases, they did check with city officials to get the go ahead for the horseback caroling and everything is good to go.

Imagine the looks on children's faces when the doorbell rings and outside they see the happy faces of these families singing Christmas carols while seeing the horses standing there majestically on a brisk winter day. Just the mental image of that scene is so beautiful, you could picture it on a painting or postcard. Maybe this new tradition will spark other Michigan horse owners to consider it for the holidays as well?
