Sad news today. Singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in London. The cause of death had not been reported as of the time of this post. Her distinctive deep voice and jazzy R&B flavored sound worked with her maverick diva image to produce a unique character that was always fresh and memorable.

You've heard the saying,  You snooze you lose right? Well, those days are gone.  You snooze now at a Crowne Plaza Hotel and you could literally lose your room.  Well you won't get kicked out right on the spot but you will be relegated to a snoring floor on your next visit...

I watched all of yesterday's coverage and my favorite was when Betty Ford's son, Steve Ford spoke.  Steve was the one who got me really choked up.  He spoke from the heart and shared some of his trails with alcoholism too.  We really got an inside glimpse of what Betty was like as a mother, a wife and a lover of all people...

Isn't it just like Betty Ford to choose a "spiritual" to start off her funeral here in Grand Rapids.  Back in the day before it was politically incorrect to use the term "negro" it was referred to as a "Negro spiritual".  Spirituals are raw, honest, bluesy, transparent, beautiful and real.  Just like Betty Ford!  It's no wonder she chose Done Made My Vow!

Okay so I just heard, that that Westboro Baptist Church group that protests at soldiers funerals all over the country, will be coming to Grand Rapids to protest at Betty Ford's funeral. At first it made me cry, for Betty.  But then I thought, these people masquerade under the guise of religion and call themselves Christians.  People can call themselves anything they want but LOOK AT THE BEHAVIOR!
