Townsquare Media Buys Kalamazoo Ribfest

Townsquare Media announced today it has reached an agreement to acquire Kalamazoo Ribfest from The Arc Community Advocates.

As part of the deal, Townsquare Media also inked a long-term partnership with The Arc to produce the event on an annual basis.

The Arc Community Advocates, a non-profit focused on helping people with intellectual and development disabilities, has operated Ribfest for the past 22 years.

Ribfest 2014 is Aug. 7 to 9 at Arcadia Creek Festival Place, and is downtown Kalamazoo's largest event.

Grandville High School's Ryan Fischer died unexpectedly at his home on Friday.

The cause of death was complications from having an enlarged heart.

Fischer was remembered at a celebration of his life on Sunday at Grandville High School.

It has the Grand Rapids resident at the pinnacle competing representing the U.S. in two disciplines at the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games in Russia.
