WZZM-13: Grandville High Hockey Captain Found Dead

UPDATE: (1pm) The MHSAA has informed our friends at WZZM-13 that it will stream tonight's Grandville state semifinal hockey game *free of charge* at MHSAA.TV at 7:30.

The Grandville team has made the decision to play the game despite the sudden death of star Ryan Fischer.

A Grandville High School senior star student and hockey player has died overnight.

Ryan Fischer died at his home in Grandville. As of now, the cause of death is unknown.

That steadfastness and determination has brought the 31-year-old former Marine to surmount an amputation of part of a severed arm suffered in a June 2009 motorcycle accident. It has the Grand Rapids resident at the pinnacle competing representing the U.S. in two disciplines at the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games in Russia.

Filming for the movie "The End Of The Tour" could cause some traffic problems along I-196 on Thursday.

A crew for "The End of the Tour" will be filming on the 196 between Fuller Ave. and Lake Michigan Dr. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. West Michigan M-DOT has indicated that there will be some lane closure, and that at the least, traffic will be moving slower.
