Feeding 1,000 West Michigan Families is Mel Trotter Ministries Goal

The Food Drive is ON!

Mel Trotter Ministries is collecting non-perishable foods for its annual Brown Bag Food Drive this fall, and it begins today. The goal is to collect 35,000 pounds of food items that will be used for more than 1,000 Thanksgiving and Christmas meal boxes for Grand Rapids area individuals and families in need. Food collected will also supplement Mel Trotter’s community food pantry.

Restaurant Week a Huge Success for Culinary Education

They held a celebration luncheon Wednesday to announce the check donation from over 65 restaurants and sponsors who participated in Restaurant Week Grand Rapids . During the lunch, five students from Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education were awarded scholarships from the fund created by Restaurant Week Grand Rapids donations.

New Horizons, Direct from Pluto Mission Manager Speaking at Calvin College Thursday

ArtPrize “Amazing Race” Saturday/Registration Deadline Today

The fifth annual Michigan Adventure Race: ArtPrize Edition will be this Saturday, October 10, 2015. Designated an Official ArtPrize Event, the race will incorporate art venues from the art competition as part of its course. Course designers may also work with artists to use art exhibits as mental and/or physical challenges that racers face along the way. Part bike race, part running race and part Amazing Race, the ArtPrize Edition is believed to be the only sporting event that blends a major, world-class art festival into its race course.

Grand Rapids Public Museum Bringing the Budweiser Clydesdales to Grand Rapids

The Grand Rapids Public Museum (GRPM) announced that the famous Budweiser Clydesdales will visit Grand Rapids in October in conjunction with the new exhibition American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition. This event will take place as part of the partnership with Anheuser-Busch for the exhibition, since the exhibit also includes Anheuser-Busch artifacts from the Prohibition era.

Joshua Davis, the Michigan finalist from “The Voice”, is in concert at a benefit for St. Cecilia Music Center this Sunday, October 4th. The benefit concert will help raise funds to support St. Cecilia as the official ArtPrize music hub.
