Legendary singer-songwriter Barry Manilow hopes others will once again follow his philanthropic lead as he brings his Manilow Music Project to the Grand Rapids Public Schools Manilow plans to donate a Yamaha piano to launch a local music instrument drive. Anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument prior to show date will receive 2 free tickets (valid for pre-selected seat locations on a first come first serve basis) for Manilow’s show this Friday, March 25th.

Guns…a new Thought Provoking Exhibit Coming to the UICA

Guns in the American culture are a very hot topic. For, or against, there is no middle ground here, no grey area.

The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) certainly isn't taking sides, but the want the conversation to continue. To encourage that, UNLOADED, an exhibition of works by more than 20 artists exploring the historical and social issues surrounding guns on culture, will open March 31st and run through May 15th, then, return for July, 5 - 31.

City High Middle School Ranked #1 in Michigan

A big CONGRATULATIONS, and WELL DONE, to Grand Rapids Public Schools.

Grand Rapids Public Schools City High Middle School has been ranked the #1 high school in the state on Bridge Magazine’s list of “2015 High School Academic State Champs”.

City is one of just 44 schools earning the state champ title. Schools were ranked based on the percent of students who are college and career ready according to ACT scores in math, English, reading, and science. The list is adjusted for student poverty levels.
