Doctors say seeing, hearing and making art helps the body heal.  That is one of the reasons why cancer survivors gathered in Grand Rapids Wednesday night to work on an entry for this year's ArtPrize competition.

WZZM TV13 With the help of some professional artists, several dozen patients are creating a piece called Healing from the Inside Out.

Cancer survivor Jerline Riley says, "We can get together and make something out of tape or clay and let it tell its own little story and how unique is that you get to tell your story in such a beautiful way."

Each artists will also create a message to accompany his or her work.  The finished piece will go on display in the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion during ArtPrize this fall.
