It seems as if new, interesting and exciting things are always popping up the Grand Rapids, and a new contest is no different.

WZZM TV13 reported that Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell announced the launch of a new website and contest during the Fourth of July Fireworks event downtown.

It's called 'My Grand Rapids in Six Words' or MyGR6. It's a community movement asking anyone to describe Grand Rapids in just six words.

"MyGR6 will capture the pride of our community by getting people thinking about what makes Grand Rapids a great place to be," said Mayor George Heartwell. "It's a real challenge to find a concise way to capture how you feel about Grand Rapids in just six words. At the end of this we'll have a great library of short stories about Grand Rapids."

People can submit their six word description at www.mygr6.com.

The descriptions will be shared on the website, through social media and in an exhibit opening in September at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

The MyGR6 movement is sponsored by Amway and The Grand Rapids Press.

There is also a contest included in this call for entries. Six of the six-word entries will be selected to be featured on billboards and in The Grand Rapids Press.

The authors will also win prizes including a night at certain local hotels, restaurant and entertainment certificates and other prizes valued at more than $10,000.

Entries may be submitted through October 4.
