Cage fighting is not my thing.  To me this Ultimate Fighting stuff is just brutal and somewhat barbaric.

Now, a controversial cage fighting event in England which included children as young as eight has prompted a barrage of criticism and outrage.

The British Cage Fighting Association have described the parents who allowed their children to participate as "morons" following footage of the bouts being posted on the internet.

At one stage, one of the schoolboy fighters taking part is shown breaking down in tears at the event, staged at the Greenlands New Labour Social Club in Preston.

Lancashire police have now said they will investigate whether children were put at risk as a result of taking part in the event.

Meanwhile, the British Medical Association has condemned the practice, describing the Preston event as "particularly disturbing".

There was particular concern from the BMA over the fact that the children were not even wearing headguards.

The association said: "Boxing and cage fighting are sometimes defended on the grounds that children learn to work through their aggression with discipline and control.

"The BMA believes there are many other sports, such as athletics, swimming, judo and football, which require discipline but do not pose the same threat of brain injury."

The NSPCC has joined the condemnation of the fights saying that at that age children's bodies are still developing physically and mentally.

Despite the onslaught of widespread criticism, the club says it still intends to stage similar events in the future.

Here is the disturbing footage. See what you think.
