Bruno Mars has a heart of gold, and he proved that Saturday night during his show at the Palace of Auburn Hills when he announced that he is donating $1 million to help the residents of Flint in the wake of the Flint Water Crisis.

The donation will be given to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, an organization that "serves the common good in Genesee County – building a strong community by engaging people in philanthropy and developing the community’s permanent endowment – now and for generations to come."

In a statement released by Mars' camp, he said,

I'm very thankful to the Michigan audience for joining me in supporting this cause. Ongoing challenges remain years later for Flint residents, and it's important that we don't forget our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster. As people, especially as Americans, we need to stand together to make sure something like this never happens in any community ever again.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the announcement was met with a roar of applause from the crowd, and was made immediately following Mars' performance of Just the Way You Are.
