Bottoms Up! These Seven Grand Rapids Bars Sold The Most Liquor In 2015

2015 was a record year for liquor consumption for the State of Michigan, according to a report released this week by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.

While Grand Rapids' consumption didn't match the 16 percent statewide increase, we did have a slight uptick led by these seven bars that made the top 100 list.

Leading the way for GR liquor sales was The B.O.B. restaurant and bar complex at the corner of Fulton and Monroe. The Big Old Building racked up over $450,000 in liquor sales, good enough for the sixth highest sales in the entire state.

Coming in a far away second was the Commerce Street staple Stella's which notched over $267,000 in sales, according to the searchable database provided by MLive, that was the 23rd highest in the state.

Rounding out the top five for Grand Rapids were Rockwell Republic ($250,000/27th), J. Gardella's ($230,000/34th) and Grand Woods ($229,000/36th).

Keep in mind that these stats do it not take into account beer sales, which have been on a steady incline in GR since the craft beer craze took hold around 2004.

Two other establishments made the state top 100 list for sales, they were Billy's in Eastown which was 41st in sales at $216,000 and popular Mexican eatery Donkey Taqueria on Wealthy Street which ranked 88th with over $169,000 in liquor sales.
