This is Bobby, a 1 and 1/2-year old Morkie!  What? A Morkie? Yes, a Morkie, or, better known as a Yorkshire Terrier / Maltese Hybrid Dog. This hybrid was originally called the Yorktese, but is now more commonly called the Morkie. The Morkie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Yorkie and the Maltese. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Trudy Ender, executive director of the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Bobby into the studios. Bobby was surrendered by his owners, and is being evaluated both physically and emotionally so that his next home will be the right one.

You can get all the information on Bobby and adopting, by visiting the society's website or call (616) 453-8900.

Trudy mentioned their Valentine's special, Find Your Love. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on this Valentine's Day, Saturday, Feb. 14.  All animals, 14 months and older, and that means Bobby, too, are $14! No reservations required; just come out to the Humane Society and find your love.
