EY recently announced that Birgit Klohs of The Right Place, Inc. is a finalist for the Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2018 Award in the Michigan and Northwest Ohio Region.

Klohs was selected as a finalist by a panel of independent judges. Award winners will be announced at a special June 27 gala event at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Since 1987, Klohs has served as the president & CEO of The Right Place, an economic development organization focused on promoting economic growth in the areas of quality employment, productivity and technology in West Michigan. Under her leadership, the organization has created over 44,000 new and retained jobs, and spurred more than $4.7 billion in new investment for the region.

As part of her role, Klohs leads The Right Place’s international business development strategy, and presents around the world on national and international economic development issues. As a community leader who believes quality of life is equally important as quality of commerce, Klohs also serves on several statewide and local boards.

Now in its 32nd year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 145 cities and more than 60 countries throughout the world.

Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year National competition. The awards are the culminating event of the Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
