A block party in Benton Harbor overheated this weekend with gunshots leaving 2 people dead and 2 others in critical condition.

According to Fox 17, officers were trying to break up the block party after hearing gun shots Saturday morning after 1:00 a.m. in the 1000 block of Lavette.

Officers were unable to find a shooting victim, but a short time after 23-year-old Andre Sanders arrived at the hospital and died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Three more people were shot near Edgecumbe and Forest Avenues. Another victim died at the scene and has been identified as 26-year-old Joseph Tyson.

Two more victims were rushed to the hospital to undergo surgery for the wounds they received. 26-year-old Robert Anthony White and 34-year-old Natasha Renee are still in critical condition.

The block party where the shooting occurred has been an annual party for the past  three years and has been problem-free until this past weekend.

Multiple shell casings were found at the scene leading investigators to conclude there were multiple weapons used in the shootings.

Police say at this time there are no suspects or a motive for the shootings.
