Bailey the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about him on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Trudy, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Bailey into the studios. Bailey  is a  2 and one half year old Chihuahua Dachshund mix - he's 25 pounds of super cool!

The Chihuahua Dachshund mix is more commonly known as the Cheweenie in breeding circles. Other lesser known names for it include the Mexican hotdog, according to the website Dogable. This is a friendly dog and is much calmer than the full-bred Chihuahua. It loves people and being in the company of humans and they form attachments very quickly. When separated for too long this dog has the tendency to suffer from separation anxiety.

Don't forget that the Humane Society continues with their promotion, I Like Big Mutts! Even though Bailey doesn't fall into this category, all dogs 40 pounds and over are $100 (usually $175).  This includes spay neuter; microchip; up to date vaccinations ... and lots of love!

The Humane Society is open Sundays from 11 - 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 12 - 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 - 4 p.m.).  Closed Monday.

You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
