A black bear has been spotted in Muskegon Lake.

The Michigan DNR is now searching for the bear and Muskegon Police have issued a warning to those in the area.

A fisherman spotted the bear swimming this morning and says the bear took about 30 minutes to cross the lake.

WZZM has full details:

Muskegon Police reports that the bear was last seen at about 9:30am near the bike path on the Grand Trunk property.  The bike path has been closed in that area until further notice.

Muskegon Police say if you see the bear, do not approach it.  Make your presence known, retreat to a safe area, and call 911 to report the location.
