Harper Lee to Publish ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ Sequel, ‘Go Set a Watchman’

More than five decades after releasing “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Harper Lee is publishing a second book. The announcement was made by her publisher Tuesday.

Downtown Grand Rapids’ Ritz Koney Loses Lease, Will Close in February

The Ritz Koney Bar & Grille on Ionia Ave. in downtown Grand Rapids has announced that they will be closing their doors for good in February.

In a Facebook post on their page Wednesday, owners Kevin and Keith stated that the restaurant will be closing on Feb. 23. According to the post, the landlord of the building where Ritz Koney has been located for the past several years has elected to not renew their lease and is instead putting a different restaurant in that location.

‘Mythbusters’ Coming to Grand Rapids’ DeVos Performance Hall April 16

Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, co-hosts of "Mythbusters" on The Discovery Channel, are bringing "MythBusters: Jamie & Adam UNLEASHED! Jamie’s Farewell Tour" to Grand Rapids' DeVos Performance Hall this spring. This will be the last time that Jamie will be touring with the show.

According to their website, the show will feature "on-stage experiments, audience participation, rocking video and behind-the-scenes stories. Fans will join Jamie and Adam on stage and assist in their mind-twisting and not always orthodox approach to science."

The Michigan State Police have issued a warning regarding a telephone scam using the IRS as a cover.

Police are saying that scammers have been using fake names and IRS badge numbers to intimidate victims into wiring money to pay off IRS debts. The scammers have threatened victims with audits, arrests, suspension of business licenses and deportation.

Sinbad, Madigan, Breuer, Willman and Kosta to Perform at LaughFest’s Signature Event

Gilda's Laughfest announced Tuesday that this year’s Signature Event will celebrate the festival’s fifth year with a lineup of returning LaughFest comedians coming together for the first time

LaughFest also announced the remaining acts for the 2015 festival, which will run from March 5 to 15 at venues in Grand Rapids, Lowell and Holland.

The Signature Event will take place on Tuesday, March 10, at DeVos Performance Hall and will be hosted by Michael Kosta, the winner of LaughFest’s 2011 stand-up competition. The event will feature headlining acts from LaughFest’s past years, including Jim Breuer, Kathleen Madigan, Sinbad and Justin Willman.

Michigan Parents Who Refuse to Vaccinate Children Will Now Have to Take Extra Steps

Parents who refuse to get their children vaccinated due to philosophical or religious reasons will now have to take more steps spelled out in a  new policy by the Michigan Department of Community Health.

As of Jan. 1, parents will have to have their vaccination waivers certified by their local health department, WZZM-13 reported.
