Fred Cogelow's "Greatest Generation/Beta Team/November" at Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum has advanced to the Public Vote Final Round at ArtPrize Seven.

Cogelow explains how he got into wood carving and what the art form means to him.

The entry is a "high-mezzo" relief carved from a 4-inch base slab of butternut.

It is Cogelow's second year at ArtPrize. Last year, his entry "Dining With 'Big Daddy Hum' (& Mum)" was at West Coast Coffee.

Cogelow talks about this year's entry, his background in carving, and how the work he is preparing to do next will differ.

Cogelow explains the difference between skill and art, "If there's an engagement with the viewer then it becomes art, otherwise it's just something I do."
