ArtPrize 2015: 1,554 Entries, 48 Countries, 42 States

ArtPrize has announced ArtPrize 2015 will feature 1,649 artists from 48 countries and 42 U.S. states for a total of 1,554 entries.

This year's 1,554 entries is a slight increase over last year's total of 1,537 and the third highest in ArtPrize's seven year history.

The number of entries has been consistent over the last five years with a low of 1,517 in 2012 and a high of 1,582 in 2011. The highest number of entries at ArtPrize was 1,713 in 2010, the lowest was 1,262 in 2009 which was the first year of the annual competition.

There will be 137 international artists at ArtPrize this year which is an increase of 21 percent over 2014.

Japan has the largest international representation at ArtPrize Seven. In the U.S., Midwest states with the most participating artists include Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Leading states outside the Midwest include California, New York, Florida, Colorado and Georgia.

ArtPrize Seven will take place in Grand Rapids from September 23 - October 11, 2015.
