ArtPrize 2014: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
St. Mark's Episcopal Church hosts 15 pieces and a variety of mediums at ArtPrize 2014. All entries share in the theme of "Forward Facing/Facing Forward".
Some entries at St. Mark's Episcopal Church are Christian-themed or inspired, including a life-size crucifix made out of nails by Bill Secunda. Secunda's entry, "The moment, nails endured", is the latest in his series of nail-sculpted ArtPrize entries.
William Mosqueda's "The Silent Mind" is a 10-minute experimental film. The film deals with the subject of death and is inspired by the idea of ones life flashing before their eyes at the moment of death.
MaryAnne Nguyen's "Elements" depicts nature and the classic elements of air, earth, water and fire.
Other highlights include Yvette Cummings' "December" (below) and Rebecca Campbell's "Rebirth" which is a colored-pencil portrait.
The venue offers many pieces which draw your attention and invite you to think further on meaningful topics.
St. Mark's is worth a stop at ArtPrize 2014.
