ArtPrize 2014: Preliminary Event Highlights

ArtPrize officially begins September 24, but the previews and fun have already begun.

The days leading up to ArtPrize 2014 are filled with special events including: discussions, chances to meet artists, early venue openings, and more.

Here are a few of the highlights to watch for between now and opening day.

September 17

• Artist reception with Kimberly Ladewig, One Trick Pony, 4:00pm - 7:00pm
• ArtPrize On Tap discussion, Founders Brewing Co., 5:00pm - 8:00pm

September 20

• Grand Opening at the HUB, 9:00am - 12:00pm, buy new ArtPrize merchandise, see Adonna Khare's 2012 ArtPrize winning entry "Elephants" and Anne Loveless' 2013 winning entry "Sleeping Bear Dune Lakeshore", donuts and cider from Sietsema Orchards

September 21

• Meet artist Paul Rio, Monroe Community Church, 10:30am - 11:30am
• Artist party/open house, The Ledyard Building, 6:00pm - 10:00pm, appetizers/music/cash bar

September 22

• Art reception, JW Marriott, 5:00pm - 7:00pm, hors d'oeuvres/drinks/music

September 23

• Sneak peek opening, Monroe Community Church, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, desserts/auction/street performers
• Sneak peek opening, Boardwalk Condos, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, singer/songwriter Mary McGuire will perform
• Lecture from artist Mako Fujimura, Acton Institute, 7:00pm - 8:00pm
