A majority of Americans have a pet. Just over 60-percent of those answering a new Harris Poll say they have a companion animal in their home. Among dog and cat owners, over 90-percent consider their pet a member of the family. Nearly 60-percent express their love for their four-legged friends by allowing Fido or Fluffy to sleep in the bed with them. A third say they "frequently" shower their dog or cat with gifts, while another 27-percent give their pets presents "occasionally." In addition, 66-percent say they've "never" dressed their animals in some sort of outfit. But as difficult as it might be to leave their furry friends at home, 83-percent have never taken their dog or cat to work with them.
