What do a hamburger, hot dog and chips have in common?

They're all in one sandwich! You thought that the Whitecaps had some wacky food at the ballpark, but, nooooooo. Carls Jr., a chain in California, is introducing something called The Most American Thickburger. It’s a cheesburger, topped with a hot dog, which is split in half, and Lay's Kettle Cooked Potato Chips.

USA Today reports in an era of seemingly unlimited edible mash-ups, it's a wonder no other major chain has concocted this one yet. The only thing that could possibly make it more All-American might be a thin slice of apple pie also tossed between the buns. Wacky flavor mash-ups seem to feed the emotional psyche of Millennials in particular. And it's young men age 18 to 34 who are the core target of Carl's and Hardee's.

Not that nutritionists are high on the Most American Thickburger. It's loaded, after all, with calories (1,063), fat (64 grams) and sodium (2,350 mg).

"Steer clear unless you're nutrition goal is to get your total fat and saturated fat grams and daily sodium count in one dose," warns Hope Warshaw, dietitian and author of Eat Out, Eat Well.
