This is pretty hysterical, but a little scary at the same time.  It was almost as if "The Birds" was recreated.

While thousands of people packed downtown to say farewell to former First Lady Betty Ford this week, many of them were met with a most unexpected surprise.

While all of the world was watching Grand Rapids this week, in the heart of downtown, a red-winged blackbird was watching the world and protecting his little corner of it.

The red-winged blackbird perched himself outside of the Grand Rapids Public Museum.  As people passed by, down he swooped.

Some ducked and dodged with little success.

Earlier in the day, a dog ran out from a yard while the former First Lady's motorcade was heading to the church for the funeral service. I wonder if the dog was chasing people, too?
