The summer heat has many retreating for air conditioning indoors. That makes now the perfect time to enjoy some furry company and adopt a cat from Crash's Landing.

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Every Friday on 100.5 The River is Purrrfect Friday, where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home.

This week, we're spotlighting Spike.

Spike was born in 2003. He first came to Crash's Landing in 2005. After 10 great years in a loving home, it became necessary for Spike to return to Crash's Landing when his owner could no longer care for him. It was a tough decision for all, but the right one for Spike.

Spike is a very nice cat. He has had health issues as he continues to battle inflammatory bowel disease. Spike had to be shaved down and given steroids to try to get the disease under control.

Spike is ready for another chance and a new home.

Can you adopt Spike?
