Smokey Bear has a rare quality. Something you don't see every day from a formerly homeless cat. He likes people more than food. Really. Come into Crash's Landing to meet him and see for yourself.

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Each Friday on 100.5 The River is Purrrfect Friday, where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home.

This week, we're spotlighting Smokey Bear.

Smokey Bear was born around October of 2013. He was first found in 2016 in a south side neighborhood of downtown Grand Rapids.

Smokey Bear came to Crash's Landing and he's been enjoying his time there and enjoying human companionship ever since. Sadly, he also tested FIV positive. He makes his home at Big Sid's Sanctuary, Crash's Landing's home for FIV positive cats.

Crash's Landing calls Smokey Bear "one of our best lap sitters." That's quite an accomplishment.

Smokey Bear is pretty reserved, but he can be a lot of fun too. Come into Crash's Landing to meet him today!
