Samwell has only been at Crash's Landing for a couple of months, but his stay may be a very short one. A cat as nice and gentle as Samwell is sure to be adopted quickly. Stop into Crash's Landing to meet Samwell, today!

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Each Friday on 100.5 The River is Purrrfect Friday, where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home.

This week, we're spotlighting Samwell.

We were originally planning to spotlight Habanero, but guess what? He was adopted before we could even share the news that he was available for adoption! That's great news for Habanero and also a reminder that if you see a cat you like at Crash's Landing, it's best to adopt it ASAP because many cats go fast. We suspect Samwell will be one of those cats.

Samwell is a solid, sturdy guy weighing in at 15 pounds. He was first found wandering around a Wyoming home last summer. He was very shy. Around Christmas he allowed himself to be brought indoors, then within a couple of weeks he was at Crash's Landing.

Samwell is FIV positive. He stays at Crash's Landing's home for FIV positive cats, Big Sid's Sanctuary. Crash's Landing is one of the few places in the Midwest that provides shelter to FIV positive cats. It's important to have a place for FIV positive cats to go. It's also important to keep adopting FIV positive cats so there is room in the shelter for more.

Samwell is a sweet and gentle cat who continues to gain confidence. He likes the company of other cats, in fact he does better when they are around, as long as it's a quiet cat who doesn't stir up too much trouble.
