Hot chocolate and warm apple cider are slowly creeping their way into our diets. Temperatures are cooling outside and it's more important than ever to find homes for cats without one. That's exactly what Crash's Landing is doing, but they can't do it alone.

Help Crash's Landing and adopt Canterbury!

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Every Friday on 100.5 The River is Purrrfect Friday, where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home.

This week, we're spotlighting Canterbury.

Canterbury was found in Bailey Park on the northeast side of Grand Rapids in July. He was sitting immobile in the mud and barely moved when approached. Canterbury only tried to crawl away before giving up. The couple who found him picked him up gently, wrapped him in a blanket and brought him to Crash's Landing.

Crash's Landing ran lab work on Canterbury that showed an extremely high white blood cell count, which meant a systemic inflammation or infection. They treated him with heavy-duty antibiotics. The next day his fever was gone.

Canterbury was scared. It took an appetite stimulant to get him to eat. Over the next few days he began to regain strength. Within a week, he came down with calicivirus, a highly transmissible feline illness that was likely the cause of his initial issues.

Today, Canterbury is doing well. He couldn't have done it without the people who found him and Crash's Landing. Now he's ready for the next step, a permanent home.

Can you adopt Canterbury?
