As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving help us find Crash's Landing's Burgess a new reason to be thankful.

Please adopt Burgess.

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Every Friday on 100.5 The River is "Purrrfect Friday," where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home. This week, we're spotlighting Burgess.

Burgess came to another shelter in July 2013 from a Rockford resident after they found out that Burgess was FIV positive. The shelter then came to Crash's Landing since Crash's Landing's Big Sid's Sanctuary is one of the few shelters which will take in cats with FIV.

FIV is nothing to be feared.

Crash's Landing's Dr. Jen explains:

FIV is not something to be feared or ignored, but rather investigated and understood, as living with the virus is not as difficult as one may think. Unless the carrier is a biter, there is absolutely NO risk of transmission from gentle contact amongst cats; the virus isn't stable outside of the body, and the only way it can be passed on from one cat to another is through deep, penetrating bite wounds. So in the case of cats like Burgess here, who simply doesn't know what the word 'bite' means, there is no risky business involved with making them a part of your feline family.

Burgess would make a great addition to your family.
