‘9/11 Never Forget’ Mobile Exhibit at Ford Presidential Museum This Week

Grand Rapids will host the “9/11 Never Forget” mobile exhibit today through Thursday,  September 9-11, at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Everyone is encouraged to join alongside GR Police and Fire Departments, Rolling Thunder motorcyclists, The Patriot Guard and Boy Scouts of America to greet the arrival of the exhibit at the Ford Museum. It will arrive around 5:30 this evening.

The “9/11 Never Forget” mobile exhibit will be driven to Grand Rapids by two New York City Fire Department Battalion Chiefs, who were at the site of the terrorist attacks. The exhibit and the Battalion Chiefs will be escorted into Grand Rapids by members of the Grand Rapids Police, The Patriot Guard, and Rolling Thunder motorcyclists. A community event will take place at the Ford Museum to welcome the NYC Battalion Chiefs and the exhibit to Grand Rapids.

Interactive items, tower artifacts, first-responder radio transmission and documentary video segments are several of the features displayed inside the 1,100 square foot trailer. The exhibit is an educational tool for the public about the historic day, as many individuals were not yet born or are too young to recall the events. Entrance to the exhibit is free of charge.

The mobile exhibit was dedicated in September 2013 by The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation, which is named for a firefighter who sacrificed his life for others during 9/11. The Foundation honors our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. Building for America’s Bravest program works with The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation to support veterans by building customized Smart Homes for the unique needs of critically injured service members returning home.
