7-Year-Old Football Star Battling Brain Cancer Meets President Obama

First, Jack Hoffman ran to the end zone. Then, he kept on going until he got to the White House.

The 7-year-old boy battling brain cancer who became an Internet star after he scored a touchdown during the University of Nebraska football team’s spring game has another accomplishment to add to his resume: he got to meet President Obama on Monday.

Hoffman, along with former Cornhusker Rex Burkhead, spent 15 minutes with the president. Afterwards, Hoffman said, “I thought it was awesome.”

Burkhead became friendly with Hoffman in 2011 and helped Hoffman’s “Team Jack” campaign in his fight. Jack’s visit to the nation’s capital came about after a Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer mentioned his infamous TD to the president, who said he’d seen it and recommended the boy stop by the White House.

Jack’s father said the trip was amazing, adding, “"It was just such a great opportunity for us to visit him and raise national awareness for pediatric brain cancer. He talked about his commitment to research and science.”

After all he’s done, we can’t wait to see where Jack goes next.
