It seems the movie "A Christmas Story" is not a fun, family comedy.

It's an educational film.

And there's at least one 12-year-old who has never seen it.

The 12-year-old New Hampshire girl wasn't triple-dog-dared. She wasn't even dared.

She just thought she'd give it a try. She was free after about 15 minutes of her parents pouring warm water as they waited for EMS to arrive.

"It just kind of popped into my head, 'Hey what would happen if I stuck my tongue to a flag pole?'" Maddie Gilmartin said. "At the moment, I was like, it will come right off."

But it didn't.

"I see her standing at the flag pole, her arms are waving," said Maddie's dad Shawn Gilmartin.  "I'm not sure what's going on until I got closer."

Kids, Maddie has a message for you, "think before you do something".
