$1,000,000 for a Parking Place?
Parking in downtown Grand Rapids isn't really tough at all. Especially for us downtown workers. We're used to it, and the cost.
Now I know there are a lot of folks who think downtown is a scary place, too many people, maybe congested, and it has the horror of having to pay for parking.
Come on...it's not that bad, and, it's very affordable especially when you compare it to other cities, aka Large cities.
Take New York for example. Parking IS tough, and many people don't even have a car if they live in the city. But, let's say you live in New York, work, live, and drive in the city, and need a parking place that guaranteed.
Do I have a deal for you. Here is your very own parking place, 12 feet wide and 23 feet long, is in a garage attached to an eight-story building which will soon house several luxury condos, and it's only $1,000,000!
“It’s for someone who wants complete privacy,” said Dolly Lenz, Vice Chairman of Prudential Douglas Elliman. “You can drive in and not be seen again. It’s for the type of person who finds that attractive. It could be a celebrity or a business person who is camera shy.”
And if you think the parking is luxurious, wait until you hear about the condos: the shower water will be “pumped full of vitamin C and aloe,” and the design of the lighting patterns and air quality will purportedly help residents sleep better.
The expensive parking spot will probably be sold along with what’s considered the building’s “crown jewel” — an 8,000 square-foot duplex penthouse with its own 3,000 square-foot terrace. Asking price? Almost $40 million.
Is that all? Get your checkbooks ready, kids.
