    Downtown Grand Rapids transforms into a winter wonderland this weekend at the second annual World of Winter Festival. Downtown GR will be decorated with over 50 ice sculptures. Attendees can join frozen fun activities like the Human Hungry Hungry Hippos on Ice Tournament, snow yoga, a silent disco, ice skating, and more! The World of Winter Festival is one of the largest ice festivals in Michigan. It is designed to take advantage of Michigan’s cold climate, provide fun ways for people to get outside and enjoy the season, and make Grand Rapids a better winter city - which makes Grand Rapids a better year-round city.

    Astronaut Nicole Stott presents "Space for Everyone"

    Nicole Stott is “the Artistic Astronaut” who creatively combines the awe and wonder of her spaceflight experience with her artwork to inspire everyone’s appreciation of our role as crewmates here on spaceship Earth. She has dedicated her life to sharing the beauty of Earth from space with others, and believes that these perspectives have the power to increase appreciation and obligation to care for our home planet and each other. Her experience as a NASA Astronaut includes two spaceflights and 104 days spent living and working in space on both the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. A personal highlight of her spaceflight was painting the first watercolor in space. She is also an Aquanaut, and along with her NEEMO9 crew, she lived and worked during an 18-day mission on the Aquarius undersea habitat. Now retired from NASA, Nicole creatively combines the awe and wonder of her spaceflight experience and artwork to spark inspiration and raise awareness of the surprising interplay between science and art. She is the founder of the Space For Art Foundation, and co-founder of Constellation.
